Mustapha made this known during the launching of the centre, which is attached to the university’s Department of Theatre and Performing Arts.
“The centre has been engaging in teaching postgraduate courses, interacting with communities around Zaria and beyond. The centre is evidence of ABU’s collaboration with international organizations for the advancement of education in this country. I proudly say that the centre has been established with the support of MacArthur Foundation of Chicago,” the VC said.
Hajiya Amina Sambo, wife of the Vice President, represented by Hajiya Fatima Yero, Kaduna’s First Lady described Theatre and Performing Arts as a veritable tool for communication that can be used in addressing socio-political and economic problems.
 “Perhaps that explains why ABU through the Department of Theatre and Performing Arts has been engaging communities especially women and children since its inception in 1975. ABU has set a very high standard in tertiary education, which has made it the pride of not only Nigeria but also Africa as a whole,” Mrs Sambo said.
Earlier, the Head of Theatre and Performing Arts Department, Professor Sam Kafewo, stated that ABU is achieving greatness in development communication, saying that the university is into the field “to marry it with our traditional method.”
