The event, which took place at the Masters International Affairs and Diplomacy Hall Faculty of Social Science, had in attendance Mass Communication students from Nuhu Bamalli Polytecnic Zaria and Bayero University Kano.
The guest speaker, Dr Sulaiman Husseini, from the Faculty of Administration ABU Zaria said that to become a good enterpreneur, one must have foresight and take necessary risks he/she may come across.
He stated that as students of communication, “you should be well equipped with the knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship than in any other field.”
Representative of chairman of the occasion, Mallam Jimoh Yusuf, said, “Many students are beginning to lose their interest and skills of creativity and all what comes to their mind is how to get into government and get their own share of the national cake.”
Mallam Jimoh advised students to desist from such acts and think positively on how to contribute their quota to the nation’s development.
Mallam Kabiru Danladi, a lecturer in the Mass Communication Department, said “journalism is not a profession to make money rather a profession of humility.”
Two alumni members of the department, Mr. Sheyi Ola and Hajiya Hadiza Umar, gave accounts of their voyage in the labour market, saying it would not have been easy for them but for their entrepreneurial passion.
