Residents of Orozo community, an Abuja suburb, have decried incessant cases of abduction and are seeking police protection to check the menace in the area.

Some residents who spoke with our reporter over the recent kidnapping of three people in Orozo said security agencies needed to evolve measures that would help in addressing the poor security situation in the area.

They advised that visibility strategy should be employed, such that more security personnel would be deployed in the area.

Our reporter gathered that two of the three abducted persons have regained freedom.

James Zubeha and Clement Etu, victims of kidnappers, said they spent three days in the bush before they were released.

A resident, Christopher Peter, said  the kidnappers were paid N35,000 and also given food items as ransom after the initial N10 million they demanded could not be realized.

The Chief of Orozo, Musa Adoga, described shortage of security personnel as one of the reasons there was security lapses in the community.

When contacted, the spokesman of the FCT police command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said the command was not aware but would carry out an investigation into the matter.
