Chinedu Obika, a member representing Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Bwari Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, has asked the displaced natives of Karsana community, whose houses were demolished by a developer, to forward a petition to the National Assembly through him for deliberation.

Obika gave this directive during a visit to the community to sympathize with the affected victims.

 Among those impacted were two natives who sustained gunshot injuries during a confrontation with the police at the community entrance on Saturday.

He also condemned the police assault on the natives, which was allegedly carried out on the developer’s instructions.

The lawmaker decried the unlawful demolition of the natives’ homes, describing it as a clear violation of residents’ rights.

He assured the victims of his commitment to ensuring justice through all available legal avenues.

Calling for calm and restraint, Obika also vowed to advocate for the interests of the FCT’s original inhabitants.

“I will fight for justice using every legal tool at our disposal,” he stated. “It is on this premise that I want to call on the leaders to forward me a petition to present to the House for deliberation.”

He further reaffirmed his role as a staunch defender of indigenous rights in the FCT, asserting, “I stand with you today and always. Your dignity and justice remain non-negotiable.”

Our correspondent reports that the lawmaker donated an undisclosed sum of money to cover the medical bills of the two natives injured during the confrontation with the police on Saturday.
