The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) gets a revenue of N1.5 billion every month from Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS).
This was disclosed by the Executive Director of AGIS, Mrs Jamilah Tangaza, while speaking with journalists shortly after the commissioning of the new AGIS systems infrastructure in Abuja last week.
AGIS’ systems upgrade, she said, is meant to check fraud in Abuja land administration.
Tangaza said, “I’m pleased to inform you that as at the 22nd of February this year, AGIS was able to sweep over N1.54 billion to the FCT treasury.
“We’re seeing the improvement based on the leakages and the improvements that we’ve been managing to close.
“In the past, it used to be in the region of N700million-N900 million but now, we’re hitting N1.5 billion.
“And I’m hoping that by the end of the year, we’ll be looking at N2 billion per month.”
The Executive Director said some of the AGIS’ computer systems including the servers and other peripherals were nine years old.
“With the systems upgrade it’s going to be extremely difficult for people to be able to facilitate any fraud because the software we have will not give you the ability to do that because you have to have authorization,” she explained.
She advised the public not to misconstrue the systems upgrade for recertification.
“If you’ve done your recertification you do not need to come.
“This is not a recertification exercise. This means that we’re going to be able to check the authenticity of titles and allocations so that in the future especially those who have the intension of coming to manipulate our systems don’t get the chance to do that, that’s what this simply means,” she said.
Minister of FCT Bala Mohammed said upgrading of the AGIS’ infrastructure will improve efficiency and build confidence of investors in the territory administration.
“The upgrading of AEGIS infrastructure will forestall proliferation of illegal private documents, violation of ICT documents by fraudulent persons, cases of double allocation, land racketing and forgery of which FCT has lost up to N10 billion in recent times,” the minister said.
Senate President David Mark who commissioned the systems maintained that a well defined cutting-edge technology will assist AGIS control land fraud.  
Represented by Victor Ndoma Egba, the Senate Majority Leader in the National Assembly, Mark said  for proper land administration in the territory and across the country, advanced technology will reduce cases of double allocation, issuance of fake Right of Occupancy, violation of the digital system and abuse master plan.
