Countries attending this year’s Abuja Housing Show have been called upon to consider investing in the country’s housing sector in order to improve affordable housing delivery in Nigeria,
Organizer of the Abuja Housing Show, Barr. Festus Adebayo while speaking in Abuja with representative of Ghana Home Loan Board assured foreign investors that President Muhammadu Buhari government has good plans for foreign investors.
He urged would- be participants in the housing show to not just attend the event but bring along resources to invest in the housing sector, saying this will create jobs and render returns to stakeholders.
Adebayo sought investment in affordable housing, stressing that it was an area with huge and untapped potential.
He maintained that Nigeria needed support from international financial organisations so as to re-engineer the mortgage system.
“Estate developers should be able to access loans that are not more than one digit. And we need loans that have long tenors,” he said.
He advised state Commissioners for Lands and Urban Development to use the forthcoming Abuja Housing Show to interact with professionals in all areas of housing/construction industry to get new ideas.
