Some Abuja natives under the aegis of Greater Gbagyi Development Initiative (GG-DIN) are set to award scholarships to indigent Gbagyi children to promote education and restore the tribe’s dignity in the country. 

The group’s national coordinator, Gimba Gbaiza, who made this known during the inauguration of an advisory committee charged with the responsibility of fine tuning modalities for the scholarship, said Gbagyi indigenes have been largely marginalised and relegated due to lack of quality education.

“GG-DIN scholarship programme is packaged to enable our people not only to soar, but to soar like the legendary eagle in the area of intellectual, competitive skills and capacity enhancements,” he said.

He said the group would welcome support from well-meaning Gbagyi people to make the scholarship a reality. 

Members of the advisory committee are Alhaji Shaban Nizazo Audu III (chairman), Elder Clement Wasah (secretary), Prince Gimba Gbaiza (member), Mrs. Grace Adayilo (member) and John Inji Jika.  

The secretary of the advisory council, Clement Wasah, said the scholarship programme would give skills, value and support indigent children in the Gbagyi community. He urged corporate organisations and privileged individuals to support the gesture of GG-DIN.

The councillor representing Gwarinpa ward of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abubakar Baushe, also called on companies especially within Gwarinpa to support the scholarship programme through provision of text books, writing materials and uniforms for students that would be selected for sponsorship.
