The Director of Public Building, Architect Bernard Lot disclosed this on Friday during a press briefing by four directors of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) on activities and achievements of the authority.
According to Architect Lot, a total of N34 billion has so far been spent on the Millennium Tower project leaving a balance of N35 billion. He said that the monumental project has gone very far. He disclosed that some components of the project would be ready this year while the rest are billed for completion by October next subject to budgetary allocation.
Lot listed those completed to be completed next month to include the National Square and the underground parking system.  He added that the rolling restaurant would be completed by June next year while the cultural centre, museum, five-star hotel, auditorium, swimming pool and the botanical garden components of the project would be completed by October next year (2014).
The Public Building Director gave the total height of the Tower as 110 meters. He stated that the tower is being built in such a way that security considerations have been factored in, especially in view of the strategic location of the Tower between other national monuments, such as the Central Bank headquarters, the National Christian Centre and the Central Mosque among others.
In the 2013 budget only a paltry N2 billion was allocated for the project.
During the briefing, the Director, Mass Housing, Engr. Jibrin took his time to explain the new mass housing policy of FCT Administration, which places emphasis on capacity, quality and affordability. The Acting Director of Urban and Regional Planning also spoke about the Abuja masterplan and the efforts to make sure that developments within the city are carried out within the framework of the master plan, while the Deputy Director of Engineering, Engr. Ukong spoke about key roads and bridge projects scattered all over FCT.
