A House of Representatives aspirant for Abuja South Federal Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Hassan Usman Sokodabo, has said his constituents need a credible representative at the National Assembly.
Sokodabo, who was the immediate past federal commissioner of the Civil Service Commission in charge of FCT/Niger State, spoke after he formally declared his intention to contest for the party’s ticket for the House of Representatives for the 2019 elections.
He said since the inception of the present dispensation, people of Abuja South were yet to have a credible representation that will champion their cause.
“We know the challenges people of Abuja South have been facing. Besides, we don’t have a second tier of government and FCT people need a credible candidate at the National Assembly that can champion the course of people,” he said.
Also speaking, the chairman of the PDP in the FCT, Alhaji Ibrahim Biko, commended the aspirant for declaring his intention to contest on the party’s platform.
“Imposition or impunity in PDP from national to the wards level is gone. The PDP is prepared to ensure free, fair and credible primaries whereever we have two or more aspirants if consensus couldn’t be reached,” he said.
Alhaji Sokodabo is a former chairman of Abaji Area Council and had prior to the 2016 area council election, defected from PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) before returning to his former party.
