Terdich’s paintings are described as a ‘vocation which manifests initially through employing dramatic chiaroscuro, to generate introspective portraits poised in powerfully balanced compositions. Guests will encounter a major feature of his style which is exposed through his capability of mastering different techniques. This, he uses to render detailed figurative subjects, characterised by luminous surfaces and compelling images that offer a combination of disquiet, uncertainty, urgency, calm and spirituality.
Famous for his figurative subjects which are hauntingly composed to evoke an immediate respect, the artist shows a clear attitude at exalting the light, obtaining paintings pervaded by uncommon atmospheres and shot with an evanescent brightness.
According to the artist, his realism is driven by uncommon technical abilities which are silent and intimate. “My works contain an unspoken, mysterious narrative, which offers an emotionally and psychologically loaded presentation that attracts the viewer. This is evident in my last set of works, ‘Waters’ which possess ultra-modern and complex compositions, where the subjects are broken within the crystal water in a multitude of dynamic reflections.”
Terdich has exhibited his works at different forays and won many awards including the VII Biennale Internazionale di Roma. He was also one of the finalists in the prestigious Premio Art 2008.
The exhibition will take place at the residence of the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria.
