This upgrade in facilities in the city’s gardens and parks comes as operators commended the recent appointment of the FCT Minister as Chairman of the grand finale of Nigeria’s Centenary Celebrations coming up on January 1, 2014.
Abuja-based investor and Chairman of Quality Link Park (aka Zone 7 Garden), Chinemelu Onwughalu, who took journalists round the garden, said Abuja the Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria’s Centre of Outdoor Recreation epitomizes the oneness of Nigeria and therefore was a perfect choice to host the grand finale.
He said Bala Mohammed’s appointment had gingered operators of the more than 500 parks and gardens to upgrade facilities that will play host to the hundreds of thousands of visitors that will troop into Abuja for the Centenary Celebrations.
“Our response to FCT hosting the grand finale of Centenary Celebrations is to step up our facilities”, Onwughalu said, adding that Quality Link Park is a typical example of what outdoor and open space recreation is all about. “We are part of the reason why Abuja stands head and shoulders above every other city in Nigeria”, the Anambra State born investor said.
Located on the popular Kigoma Street in Zone Seven of Wuse District, the garden, in addition to its three multi-purpose halls, open field and modern lawn tennis court, has a scattering of rocks, from the top of which a visitor can enjoy a panoramic view of Wuse District and beyond.
A patron at the Top Rock section of the garden, Hosea Pam, told Daily Trust why he frequents the Zone 7 Garden: “This garden reminds me of my state capital, Jos. This is nature at its best. The rocks mingle with the greenery to present a very aesthetic and countryside ambience which relaxes the body and the soul”. 
Established in 2007, Quality Link Park has four multi-purpose halls, a large main field, a standard tennis court and space for over 500 patrons with their cars securely parked within the park’s expansive grounds.
