Senator representing Edo South at the National Assembly, Neda Imansuen, has said that the embattled national chairman of Labour Party, Abure Julius Abure, did not really has the interest of the party at heart, during the 2023 general election.

Daily Trust reports that the lawmaker was reacting to Supreme Court judgement whic set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja recognising Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

Neda made the remark yesterday in Benin during an interaction with the members of Correspondent chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council.

He said a lots thing had been going on in labour party as Abure had been dragging the party in and out of court which he said “has greatly affected the party’s fortunes in the country.

“In my opinion Abure who was the national chairman didn’t really has the interest of the labour party at heart. It became something that didn’t didn’t really matter to him.

“It was like let’s Let’s fight and tear the party into pieces instead of preserving it. That is not what I expected from someone who had led the party in 2023 election,” he said.

Senator Imaaien lamented that Abure had been dragging the party in and out court before the Supreme Court finally gave judgement on the party crisis.

This, he said showed, that Abure didn’t have the labour party’s interest at heat, wondering if the recent judgement would neither bring those who had left the party back or energize those who still remain in the party.

“But the question for us now, is where do we go from here, I just hope it’s not a little too late because labour party is almost decimated as most members have joined other parties,” he said.

Continuing, Senator Imasuen disclosed that 420 higher education indigents students have benefited from his scholarship thereby enabling the student to pursue their higher education without barriers.

He added he has also paid JAMB registration fees for 200 indigent students, facilitated employment of 17 constituents in federal agencies, provision of over 152 solar lights to communities, provision of educational materials to 21 primary schools empowered 500 contituents in various skills in the district among others.
