ABU’s Muslim staff donate to orphans

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Muslim Staff Forum has donated food items and clothing materials to orphans in Zaria in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan.

Presenting the items on behalf of the forum to the chairman of the Orphans’ Assistance Committee, Dr. Mohammed Umaru Kawu, the Secretary General of the forum, said it was an annual tradition of the forum to assist orphans and the less privileged.

He added; “it is the responsibility of every Muslim to assist the orphans and the less privileged. We want to reap the rewards inherent in this act  . Nobody is certain that he would live with his children up to their adulthood. If one dies, he wouldn’t want a situation where his children would be abandoned. This is one of the wisdoms behind assisting the orphans and that is why Allah makes it an act that attracts a lot of rewards.”

Receiving the donation, the chairman of the committee, Malam Yusuf Namadi, thanked the forum and urged other groups and individuals to imitate the gesture for the sake of humanity and lust of rewards from Allah.

The items donated include rice, oil, wrappers and clothes.
