The Movement and Access Party, a political association seeking registration, has faulted the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting their application for registration.
In a statement on Thursday, the chief convener of the Movement, Barrister Bulama Bukarti, described the decision as unfair and unlawful.
The group said that it had formally written to INEC, requesting to resolve the matter within seven days, saying it noted the decision with grave concern.
The group argued that the Democratic Leadership Party is not a registered political parity under Nigerian law, saying it cannot preclude the registration of Access Party.

It added that it had formally written to INEC requesting a meeting within seven days to resolve the issue.
The statement reads, “The logos are visually distinct and cannot mislead voters,” the statement read.
“A soaring blue bird on a plain background is not the same as a green-and-white eagle head design symbolising access, inclusion and fairness. No reasonable person could conclude they are nearly identical.”
“This is a deliberate attempt to turn back the clock and frustrate our application. By taking this approach, INEC has imposed an additional, unlawful hurdle not contemplated by the Constitution or the Electoral Act.
“We urge our millions of followers and members to remain calm and assured that our collective will for our nation will be realised in the most civilised and dignified manner.”
