Stop Gender-based Violence

Head of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Response Unit, Federal Ministry of Justice, Yewande Gbola-Awopetu, says access to the justice system is key to ending SGBV.

She said Tuesday in Abuja while briefing journalists on the sidelines of a two-day sensitization workshop on SGBV, organised by the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Justice.

he said the workshop was organised to better equip and assist persons under the criminal justice system to have a deeper and better position for SGBV.

“The judiciary, the prosecutors and the investigators need to be equipped because essentially, crimes or cases of GBV need access to justice to provide justice to the victims, so members of that spectrum need to be properly guided and trained in that area.”
