Acquire vocational skills before marriage — Kwara Gov’s wife

The wife of Kwara State Governor, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, has counselled young ladies to acquire vocational skills in addition to their education before going into marriage in order to be self reliant.

She said for ladies to be successful mothers and measure up to the challenges of the contemporary world, they must rise above board.

The governor’s wife spoke while declaring open, the 2017 annual zonal youth camp of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations of Nigeria (FOAMWAN), South-West Zone B currently going on in Ilorin, themed ‘Youth As an Agent of Positive Change’’.

The zone comprises of Ekiti, Kwara, Osun, Lagos, Ondo and Kogi states.

Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Asiat Ayinke Saka, the governor’s wife advised participants at the week-long camp to take advantage of the vocational training opportunities in the state.

She said the state Ministry of Women Affairs had 22 trades which young girls could  learn in order to be successful mothers.

Chairman of the occasion and Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, advised parents to prioritize their children and wards.

He regretted that communal upbringing which in the past aided society in the proper upbringing of children, had been relegated.

FOAMWAN Zonal Coordinator, Hajia Nimatallahi Salam, said the camp was organised to unite youth and groom them to be successful mothers and leaders.
