Adamawa Approves N19.7bn for Jimeta Modern Shopping Complex Project

The Adamawa State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved the construction of a modern shopping complex in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, at a cost of N19.7 billion.

The project aims to replace the existing market, built in 1996, which was recently demolished to make way for the new structure.

According to Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, the contract has been awarded to three contractors, with a completion timeline of twenty months.

The new complex will feature shops, a fire station, police post, administrative buildings, and other facilities.

Meanwhile, the state government has urged residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer zones, as heavy flooding continues to affect communities.

Commissioner of Environment, Sadiq Mohammed, issued the warning, while Commissioner of Health, Chief Felix Tangwami, assured that the ministry is prepared to contain any potential disease outbreaks resulting from the flooding, and urged citizens to remain vigilant.
