Judging from his carriage and high-powered party politics, a lot of observers concluded that he would not clinch the ticket. And they were right after all.
Since he took over the mantle of leadership in the state over two months ago, he has failed to choose a deputy, neither has he appointed commissioners or special advisers. The governor does not also enjoy a good rapport with members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly. And he has failed to mobilise the critical PDP stakeholders throughout the state. To add insult to a festering injury, he lacks a robust and dependable political structure; hence he does not have the capacity to get votes for the PDP at this crucial time. As if that was not enough, Governor Ngilari disappointed his admirers by picking the intent form by proxy-a major pointer to his political unpreparedness and poor judgement.
We all know that there were some salient reasons why the gubernatorial primary election of the PDP in the state was moved to Abuja. That decision was for the good of the state. It was widely believed that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party took that measure in response to the dangerous and uncivilised action by those who do not wish the state well. Apart from security reasons, that decision further proved that the PDP is highly disciplined and mature, yet some members are not happy.
It is a common knowledge that in Nigeria, the season of primaries and general elections is always associated with healthy, and sometimes, political disagreements, horse-trading and intense political maneuvers, but the governor and his co-travellers did not understand the game. It appeared that their desperation to retain their positions beclouded their reasoning.  They failed to respect and learn from history. It seemed the governor forgot in a hurry the circumstances that took him to the highest seat in the Government House.  
The truth is that the time to salvage Adamawa State is now. This is not the time for motor park politics. Those who truly love Adamawa are already throwing their support behind Nuhu Ribadu and other respected stakeholders. The PDP knows those who are capable of moving Adamawa State forward under its umbrella.
