While the elderly Nyako’s ambition is not immediately affected since he has not indicated interest in running for any office since his impeachment as governor, that of his son, Abdulaziz is. The younger Nyako is the APC senatorial candidate for the Adamawa Central senatorial zone.
The contest in the district promises to be interesting as it is going to be between Abdulaziz, of the APC, Dr. Idi Hong of the PDP and Hajiya Aishatu Binani of the SDP.
Recent developments have provided more insight on the aspirations of the three major contenders.
While Abdulaziz is wanted by the anti-graft agency, Hong, the PDP candidate, is seen as the government candidate, while Binani, is not only contesting on the platform of a relatively newer party, PDM, but she is doing so against two men.
As it is, the trio have much to do to shape the perception in their favour as each, even in the case of Nyako where it is seen as political persecution, comes with both advantages and disadvantages.
