The conferment of the title on Mijinyawa, who is the Commissioner for Local Government of Adamawa State, reinforces his immense contributions to the emirate over the years.

The way and manner people attain greatness differ. There are those that are born great, like princes and children of the wealthy and there are the average citizens that attain greatness by adopting the right attitudes: hard work, wisdom, honesty and ambition. One of such individuals that falls into the latter group is the new Marafan Adamawa, Mijinyawa; a popular politician who is known across Adamawa State and beyond. Through dint of hard work, determination, integrity and other positive approaches to life, he rose to the enviable position of commissioner for nearly 10 years serving two different administrations: that of former Governor Bindow Jibrilla as the Commissioner for Land and Survey, and Ahmadu Fintri’s as the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs.
Mijinyawa commands respect and has close links with the high level and low level. The new Marafan Adamawa has made his mark in politics in various capacities. He was an elected councillor in the defunct Yola LGC and later became an elected Chairman of Yola-North LGA. His tenure was marked with accelerated development like the construction of clinics in the 11 wards, construction of roads and the provision of potable water through the digging of bore-holes in various locations.
The level of achievements recorded by the new Marafa when the people gave him their mandate endeared him to the people of Yola-North.
Patriotism, responsibility and unity of purpose is the yardstick to gauge the feeling of one towards his community. Mijinyawa is someone that always associates himself with the desire and aspirations of his people. He is known for integrity and a spartan lifestyle that accommodates respect for elders. The optics are clear, that Mijinyawa, was conferred with the prestigious title to contribute in building a virile emirate council that will stand the test of time.
It is not a mistake if one overblows the tremendous achievements made by the new Marafa in the course of putting his service for the betterment of the state and the emirate.
I have watched the new Marafa for almost two decades and he has kept his name clean without denting his image in the eyes of the people.
This conferment of the title underscores his steadfast devotion to the people and stands as a fitting reward for his decades of selfless service to his people over the years.
The turbaning ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 3, 2026, which is to be performed by the Lamido of Adamawa.
As a leader, Mijinyawa does not care about your face or who you are; he just wants things done in the right manner.
One amazing quality of this uncommon person is his ability to take responsibility as a leader. Rest assured, that he is not the kind of person that throws you under the bus. It is no surprise, therefore, that the Lamido of Adamawa conferred this title on him based on the many laurels that have accompanied his sojourn in politics.
He always puts the people forward before himself, embodying resilience and unwavering commitment. Kind, generous, selfless, blunt, unattached, detribalised, sociable and playful.
The new Marafa will play a very significant role in shaping the destiny of the people of the emirate.
