Adamawa State Government has inaugurated a six-member Commission of Inquiry in to the recent communal crisis in Numan and Demsa.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Yola, Deputy Governor, Martin Babale said government was committed to implementing the report of the commission.

"Let me clearly state that Government is irrevocably committed to ensuring that the report of this commission is faithfully implemented. This is a commitment.

"We are indeed committed to ensuring that all steps are taken to forestall future occurrence of such unfortunate incident.

"Our concern is to bring Adamawa State out of poverty and backwardness. We cannot do that if our communities are not living in peace with each other," Babale said.

The chairman of the commission, Justice Adamu Hobon (rtd) promised to carry out their assignment with all sincerity, soliciting for support from the puɓlic

"The media should also try to report correctly on the committee’s activities where need arises," Hobon said.

The committee has six weeks to submit its report

The terms of reference for the commission include investigating the immediate and remote causes of the conflict.

"To ascertain the extent of damages to lives and properties

"To proffer lasting solutions that would sustain peace and harmony in the state.

"To advise government on curbing future occurrences and measures on rehabilitation and settlement of those affected accordingly.

"To identify persons involved, and to recommend appropriate remedies against any person (s) or institution (s) involved in the crisis"
