The wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, on Friday October 31, 2025 flagged off the Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Campaign at the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Market, Yola North.
The campaign, organized by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) in collaboration with the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Adamawa Chapter, aims to promote early detection and prevention of breast and cervical cancer among women.
Speaking at the event, Hajiya Lami described the initiative as a life-saving effort close to her heart, urging women to undergo regular screenings and pay attention to their health. “This campaign is not just about awareness , it’s about saving lives,” she said, reaffirming her foundation’s commitment to expanding cancer screening and education across the 21 LGAs.
MWAN State President, Dr. Wasinda S. Bulus, advised women to self-check monthly, screen regularly, and vaccinate girls against HPV, while calling for affordable access to cancer care.

The wives of council chairmen from all the LGAs pledged to extend the sensitization to grassroots communities, with simultaneous campaigns scheduled statewide on November 3, 2025.
The event featured a road walk, health talks, and free screenings, marking a milestone in the First Lady’s ongoing advocacy for women’s health in Adamawa State.
