The Adamawa State House of Assembly has introduced a bill seeking to establish the state electricity commission.

The Adamawa State Electricity Commission bill passed its first reading during Monday’s plenary session.

The proposed agency, when established, would be responsible for generating, transmitting and distributing power for the state’s consumption.

The bill was sponsored by Hon. Kantomon Bulus, the Member representing Shelleng constituency.

If passed, the commission will explore the abundant sources of power in Adamawa State to generate electricity, which will boost economic activities and improve the lives of the citizens.

The speaker of the assembly, Bathiya Wesley, who presided over the session, directed the Chairman of Rules and Business to schedule the second reading of the bill for the next legislative day.
