Adamawa Govt Receives 1207 tonnes of Assorted food Items from NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated 1207 metric tonnes of assorted food items to Adamawa State for distribution to vulnerable persons across the state.

The food items were handed over by NEMA at a ceremony in Yola North, which was attended by commissioners, government officials, and other dignitaries.

Representing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the gesture and pledged equitable distribution of the food items.

The effort is in line with the governor’s human capital development initiatives aimed at alleviating the hardship experienced by the people, according to Professor Farauta.

The Permanent Secretary and Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Ministry of Emergency Management Agency, Heidi Edgar Sunday, also expressed gratitude to NEMA and other relevant entities for their support and response to emergencies and humanitarian needs in the state.

The donation of food items, which includes maize, millet, and sorghum, is expected to bring relief to vulnerable persons in Adamawa State who are facing food insecurity due to various challenges.
