The Adamawa State Ministry of Health has sealed eight illegal health training institutions across the state.

Since the operation against the illegal institution started in the state capital, the government has shut down two colleges of health in Yola South and six in Yola North.

The committee, led by Mr. Isaac Kadala, the Director of Public Health for the Ministry of Health, also closed down Jimeta Central College of Health Science and Technology in FOMWAN, NEPA Road, Jimeta, Yola, School of Health Technology at No. 138, Jambutu Street, Wuro Kuturu Jimeta Yola, Nafan College of Health Science and Technology in Jambutu, Jimeta, Yola, and Bell Dome College of Health Sciences and Technology in Nyako Quarters, Jimeta Yola.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Barrister Isuwa Misali, explained that the clampdown exercise is part of Governor Fintiri’s agenda to improve the health sector in Adamawa State by sanitising health institutions in the state.

Barrister Misali emphasised that all the identified colleges for closure did not meet the requirements for establishing such training institutions.

He listed important components that are expected to be provided by a training health institution, including ten permanent health professional staff, a recreational centre, a sports field, and accommodation, among others.

“However, the affected colleges have the option to come forward and work with the ministry to complete all necessary procedures for establishing a college of health sciences and technology to obtain an operational permit.” He said.
