Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the recent killings in parts of Adamawa State.
Daily Trust had reported how at least 25 people were killed and several houses torched after gunmen attacked two villages in Adamawa, on Tuesday.
The attackers struck Kirchinga in Madagali district and Garaha in neighbouring Hong, two villages on the edge of the Sambisa Forest where Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) operate.
In Shuwari community in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, residents said Boko Haram terrorists killed 17 people and burned houses and business premises during the attack.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Friday, Atiku described the incident as tragic and deeply troubling.
“I am deeply moved by the tragic attacks in Adamawa State, where gunmen killed over 20 people in a market in Madagali and Hong local government areas,” he wrote.
He noted that the attack exposed the worsening insecurity across the country and further deepened the protracted crisis in the North East.
The former presidential candidate urged security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts to curb the menace.
“I urge the authorities to redouble their efforts to address this menace, ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice, and strengthen security to prevent future attacks,” he added.
