Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has launched a comprehensive plan to improve food security and agricultural productivity in the state.
To achieve this goal, the governor has established a 19-member Food Security Committee with a mandate to design and implement intervention strategies to address critical areas of agricultural development.
The committee’s focus areas include immediate relief and yield optimization, expansion of agricultural land, dry-season crop production, mechanization and equipment provision, agricultural inputs, and information and communication technology (ICT) services.
The committee aims to transform the agricultural landscape of the state by creating a more resilient and self-sustaining agricultural sector that empowers farmers and stimulates economic growth.

One of the most significant initiatives in the plan is the cultivation of 300 hectares of virgin land in all 21 local government areas of the state for agricultural purposes.
The government will provide essential inputs, advanced technology, and extension services to farmers to support the initiative. The goal is to increase food production by 30%.
The state government recently received a comprehensive report on measures to enhance agricultural production capacity for the 2024 cropping season and beyond. The report serves as the basis for the Food Security Committee’s strategic direction.
