The Justice Umar Bobbo Judicial Panel of Investigation set up by the Acting Governor of Adamawa, Ahmadu Fintiri, to probe the administration of former Governor Murtala Nyako from June  2007 to June 2014 has commenced grilling of government officials.

In a testimony during the panel sitting at High Court II in Yola, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry for Local Government, Mr Kennedy Dauda alleged that Nyako government had been deducting N48 million monthly from 21 local government councils as donation to the police through Nyako’s ADC.

He said Local councils also contributed N10. 5 million monthly for the operations of the three state owned media Organizations through the Ministry of information and that the ministry awarded N167 million contract for installation of CCTV cameras at local government secretariats but was not sure if the contract has commenced.

However, the panel members were not satisfied with the permanent secretary’s response to questions about some contracts including the construction of 210 housing units in 21 local government areas, purchase of 110 Hilux vans .

The  permanent secretary said the 110 vans where distributed to security agencies for enhanced security in the state state.

Chairman of the panel, Justice Umar Bobbo said the panel invite  the said beneficiaries and contractors to ascertain the claims by the permanent secretary with a view to establishing true position of things.

He said the panel observes some inconsistencies in the submission of the ministry saying” the more you explain the less we understand “.
