Taking a cursory look at the antecedents of the political actors, in the state, it was always a turbulent situation among the political actors. In 2007, the heavyweights among the political actors chased out former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and his godson, the former Governor Boni Haruna, from the political scene and installed currently-impeached Murtala Nyako.   
In 2008, Nyako was ‘dethroned’ but later returned after a bye-election was conducted. More drama followed, with the most recent one being his impeachment as governor of the state by the legislative arm on charges of official misdemeanour, financial recklessness, et cetera. His Deputy threw in the towel under compulsion exerted on him by the members of the state legislature led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintri, who was then sworn in as acting governor. In three very short months, a new twist was introduced in the shape of a court ruling by Justice Adeniyi Ademola installing the Deputy Governor, Bala James Ngillari as governor.
This development, indeed this needless drama, has further put the state in a precarious situation and is drawing the state backward, politically. The latest action has made the state to trend most negatively. It’s also projecting the state’s political actors as a most unserious lot. Said actors may be enjoying their political battles and the cheap infamy it brings, but they forget that Adamawa doesn’t need a labyrinthine political arena. What we need is good, conscientious governance. And that’s not too much to ask.
