Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, transparency, and sustainable development with the launch of the state’s 10-Year Strategic Development Plan (SSDP) 2026–2035.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, made the commitment during the official launch of the development plan held at the Conference Hall of the Government House in Yola.

Describing the occasion as a defining moment for the state, Governor Fintiri said the launch marked a shift from short-term planning and annual budget cycles to a more comprehensive and sustainable decade-long development roadmap.

“I feel honoured today to fulfil a pivotal responsibility of my administration through the official launch of Adamawa State’s Ten-Year Strategic Development Plan. This marks our shift beyond short-term planning and annual budget cycles as we take a bold leap forward with a decade-long roadmap,” the governor stated.

Fintiri explained that the development plan was the outcome of extensive consultations, rigorous technical planning, and collaboration with stakeholders across the state, with technical support from UNICEF.

According to him, the roadmap represents more than a policy framework, describing it as a commitment between the government and the people of Adamawa State.

“The 10-year roadmap is more than a policy document; it is a sacred pledge to our people. It is not merely a government plan, but a People’s Plan — a shared vision and social contract between government and the governed,” he said.

The governor further pledged to reposition Adamawa State from the periphery to the centre of Nigeria’s national development discourse, stressing that the Strategic Development Plan is a practical demonstration of that vision.

Representing the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Awwal D. Tukur, the Permanent Secretary on Political Matters, Ibrahim Buba, said the document provides a collective roadmap for sustainable growth, economic diversification, social inclusion, and infrastructural transformation over the next decade.

He noted that the SSDP 2026–2035 would serve as the principal policy reference document for planning, resource allocation, project implementation, and performance monitoring across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Adamawa State Government.

Buba called on stakeholders, development partners, international organisations, civil society groups, and citizens to support the implementation of the development plan.

“Let us embark on this decade of transformation with focus and determination toward realising the future we all deserve — a future of opportunity, innovation, and shared progress,” he urged.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairperson of the State Planning Commission, Dr. Mary Paninga, commended the administration’s leadership and vision, noting that the successful formulation of the strategic development plan was made possible through the governor’s commitment and support.

She explained that the SSDP was carefully designed to align with Nigeria’s National Development Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while addressing the unique developmental needs of Adamawa State.

The event featured goodwill messages from relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as stakeholders, who highlighted the importance of the development plan to the state’s long-term growth and transformation.
