Adamu D. Kasim has been elected as the new chairman for the Abuja branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV).
The new chairman, the ninth to hold the position, was elected unopposed at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the branch on Tuesday, where he promised to look at the possibility of establishing a consultative committee of public sector surveyors in the FCT.
He also promised to see to the entrenchment of the estate surveyor and valuer cadre in the scheme of service of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and to encourage the NIESV council to sponsor bills to the National Assembly.
The bills, according to the new chairman, include a bill for the establishment of a National Property Holding and Management Agency and the Nigeria Real Estate Investment Protection Bill as well as the implementation of feasible and viable property tax regimes by the FCT Administration.
