ADC fields Ex-APC Guber aspirant against Ndume

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has picked Idris Gatumbwa Mamman Durkwa as its consensus candidate for Borno South District in the 2027 general election.

The district is currently being represented by Senator Ali Ndume, who has obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) to run for a fifth term in office.

If elected, Durkwa who was a gubernatorial aspirant of APC, would unseat the long-term and outspoken Borno south senator, Ndume.

Also screened together with Durkwa are the senatorial aspirants of Borno North and Central, Mr Fugu Ibrahim and Babagana Zanna.

Fielding questions from journalists after the screening, ADC Organising Secretary, Mohammed Umar Bolori, said Durkwa emerged the consensus choice of the ADC.

“He was presented to reposition ADC’s unity, growth, and electoral success in southern Borno, the state and beyond,” he said

He said three governorship aspirants were screened to participate in the party’s primaries, and other aspirants of House of Representatives tickets. where the consensus arrangement did not work.
