The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated a 22-member Constitution Review Committee to strengthen internal democracy, discipline and cohesion within the party.

Speaking at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja while addressing members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other stakeholders, the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, said the party’s constitution must serve as a moral compass that defines its ideology, guides conduct, regulates internal processes and safeguards internal democracy.

Members of the committee include its chairman, Etigwe Uwa (SAN), Barrister Aishatu Dan-Kani, Professor Lawal Salihu, former Imo State governor Emeka Ihedioha, Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe, E.Y. Orker-Jev, Idris Abdullahi Umar and Ehigie Uzamere, as well as Chief Ralph Nwosu and other party leaders.

In his acceptance speech, Uwa said the committee was fully committed to the task and would deploy all necessary resources to produce a forward-looking constitution with robust dispute-resolution mechanisms.
