The Katsina State Congress Committee of the national body of African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned against unauthorized congress activities in Katsina state, declaring any parallel gatherings as illegal and of no consequence.

In a press statement issued on and signed by the Chairman of the committee, Atiku Abubakar Saleh said it was duly constituted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to conduct transparent, credible, and orderly congresses across the state.

The Chairman noted that the NWC had also approved the composition of key committees with clearly defined responsibilities to ensure strict compliance with the party’s constitution.

He identified the screening committee, led by Barrister Dr. Sulaiman Maiyawo, alongside the Congress Committee under his leadership, as the only authorized bodies to carry out congress-related activities in Katsina.

Similarly, the committee stressed that any claims or activities suggesting the existence of parallel congresses are illegal and orchestrated by individuals seeking to disrupt the unity and democratic process within the party.

It therefore urged members, stakeholders, and the general public to disregard such unauthorized gatherings and refrain from participating in them.

Recently a High Court sitting in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, vacated its earlier interim order in a leadership dispute involving the ADC leadership in the state.

However, the presiding judge, Justice A.K. Tukur, in a ruling delivered had struck out the suit for lack of jurisdiction.
