Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe state, Senator Idris A. Umar, has obtained the party’s nomination form to contest for the Gombe Central Senatorial seat.

The development is being viewed by political observers as a significant move that could reshape political calculations within the senatorial district as parties intensify preparations for the next electoral cycle.

The Gombe Central seat is currently being occupied by former governor of the state, Danjuma Goje who has been on the position since 2011.

Senator Umar said his decision to join the race is driven by his commitment to providing effective representation and advancing the welfare of the people of Gombe Central zone.

Speaking shortly after obtaining the nomination form, the ADC stalwart expressed appreciation to party leaders, supporters and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him over the years.

He assured party members that his ambition would be pursued with fairness, inclusiveness and respect for democratic principles.

“This is an important step in the journey towards serving our people once again. I remain committed to issue-based politics, unity within the party and the promotion of credible democratic processes,” he said.

He also pledged to work closely with party executives and supporters across the state to strengthen the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
