Address non-payment of salaries now

The non-payment of salaries has become a trend in the country, with virtually all states owing workers. Many state governors are hiding under the mantra of ‘dwindling oil revenue’ to deny workers their pay. It is alarming that despite the bailout that was received from the Federal Government, many workers were not paid. To make matters worse, a governor recently declared openly that he could no longer pay salaries.
Politically, it is not wise for a leader to declare openly that he cannot discharge one of his constitutional responsibilities. I therefore urge all governors to look inwards and  generate revenue to pay workers. The current situation where workers stay without salary for months is unbecoming. Something must be done and fast too.  Governors should also try as much as possible to reduce cost of governance.
