The Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs, Jacob Buba Gyang, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently address the worsening security situation in the country.

The Gbong Gwom made the call on Wednesday when the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside four other progressive governors, visited him at his palace in Jos, the state capital.

The governors present were Hope Uzodinma of Imo State; Hyacinth Alia of Benue State; Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State; and Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State.

The Gbong Gwom expressed concern over the escalating violence across the country, lamenting that despite the administration inheriting significant security and economic challenges, urgent action is needed to halt the bloodshed and restore stability.

“We appeal to you politicians: the stability of Nigeria is what we all want. Every political party claims to seek the country’s progress, and we at the traditional council continue to pray for leaders who will truly deliver on that promise,” he said.

He added, “At this moment, it has pleased God to entrust the destiny of Nigeria into your hands. We know things are difficult, and that you inherited many problems, especially in security and the economy. But please, help Nigeria out of this security crisis.”

The traditional leader highlighted the dire situation in various states, saying people, including women and children, are being killed daily in parts of Zamfara, Kaduna, and Plateau.

“People can’t go to their farms, which worsens the food crisis. It is painful to see communities burying the young, the old, women, and children. My brother from Benue can also testify to this. The Northeast has suffered the same and is still suffering,” he said.

He urged the governors and political leaders to support President Tinubu in his efforts to tackle insecurity and restore peace.
