Speaking with our correspondent in Kano, Abba said international training becomes imperative in order to expose the athletes to standard training facilities, which he said would make them more familiar with the terrain.

According to Abba, foreign camping would afford the athletes the opportunity to concentrate on the robust drill they would be exposed to. “I want the new minister to give emphasis on overseas training so that our athletes can triumph in international encounters,” he said.

He expressed optimism that Professor Adedoja’s coming heralds a new era of taking pragmatic approach to sports development.

Alhaji Abba however supported decision of the National Sports Commission, under Director General Dr. Patrick Ekeji to prune down of the number of sporting events, which country would participate in the forthcoming Olympic Games.
