Adeniyi Adekoya, known professionally as Adeniyi Drumz, is a Nigerian-born talented drummer making waves in the United Kingdom’s entertainment scene.

Born on September 22, 1995, he hails from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria, Adeniyi’s journey into music began at an early age. Growing up in Molete, Ibadan, a small area rich with cultural sounds, he was exposed to music as part of his daily life.

Raised in a Christian home, morning devotions were filled with music, which nurtured his deep love for rhythm. At an early age, Adeniyi would gather everyday items like pots, kegs, and metal plates, using them to create makeshift drum sets. This simple beginning would later set the stage for a successful career.

Despite facing challenges growing up in Nigeria, where pursuing music as a career wasn’t always seen as practical, Adeniyi remained steadfast in his passion. His neighbours often scolded him for making noise as he practised, but this only made him more determined. By the time he reached his teenage years, he was already drumming in church, which was instrumental in his musical development.

Alongside his music, Adeniyi understood the importance of education. In 2018, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Ajayi Crowther University and later completed his Master’s in Financial Technology from the University of Bradford in 2023. These academic achievements helped him strike a balance between his education and music career, showing that success doesn’t require choosing one path over the other.

In 2022, Adeniyi married Favour, and their partnership has been a source of support throughout his career. His journey has not only been about his professional accomplishments but also his personal growth and family life.

Now based in the UK, Adeniyi has made a name for himself in the entertainment scene, both in his home country and internationally. His unique drumming style, which blends traditional Nigerian rhythms with contemporary techniques, has earned him respect and admiration. His performances, whether on global stages or in smaller, intimate settings, have left a lasting impact on audiences. Adeniyi’s drumming is known for its subtlety and elegance, often enhancing the music without overpowering other instruments. This quality has made him a highly sought-after collaborator for several musical artists.

Adeniyi’s career highlights include being honoured as Best Drummer of the Year at the Eko Heritage Awards, a Nigerian award that celebrates promoters of cultural heritage. This recognition celebrated his dedication to the craft and his significant contributions to the entertainment industry. While his drumming style is understated, it is clear that his influence on music is profound.

In 2024, Adeniyi collaborated with Adedoyin Oseni in the production of Jelenke ilfe, Music critic Michael Kolawole described his drumming pattern on the tune as calm and joyful.

In March 2025, Adeniyi hosted Drums Dialogue & Rhythm Exchange in Sheffield, UK. This intimate event showcased his drumming style and gave the audience a chance to engage with the rhythms in a unique, interactive way. Adeniyi believes that music is a shared experience, and this event allowed attendees to feel the rhythm and connect with it on a deeper level.

Following the success of the Sheffield edition, Adeniyi plans to host similar sessions across the U.K., including rhythm therapy workshops, school-based cultural exchange programs, and youth-focused drumming events.

Reflecting on his journey so far, Adeniyi talks about the challenges he faced but remains grateful for the experiences that shaped him. From his humble beginnings in Nigeria to performing on international stages, he has proven that passion, dedication, and resilience can overcome any obstacle. His growing presence in the UK entertainment scene is a testament to his talent and determination.

As Adeniyi Drumz continues to make his mark on the global music scene, one thing is clear: his passion for drumming and commitment to his craft will keep resonating with people across the world. His story is one of perseverance, and his music continues to connect people through the universal language of rhythm.
