Owners of the Kano famous shopping complex, the Ado Bayero Mall, have denied reports claiming the mall is up for sale, stressing that the report was misleading and untrue.
In a statement, the Mall’s General Manager David Okpanachi, said the management has not appointed any agent or representative to market the Mall.
Okpanachi stated that Ado Bayero Mall remains a key retail destination in Kano “operating optimally and serving the shopping, leisure and lifestyle needs of residents and visitors.”
While noting that operations remain stable; the statement said the owners continue to focus on providing a secure and high-quality environment for tenants, customers, and the wider community.
The statement advised members of the public, investors and business partners to exercise caution and refrain from engaging with any individual or entity claiming to represent a sale of the mall.
“Such representations are unauthorised and may constitute fraudulent activity,” the statement added.
The owners stated that all official information regarding Ado Bayero Mall would be communicated directly by its management and owners through verified channels only.
It would be recalled that the President of Kano Chamber of Commerce Industries Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), Ambassador Usman Hassan Darma recently dismissed reports on social media suggesting that the Ado Bayero Mall was listed for sale.
Darma described the report as false saying the land on which the mall was built belongs to the chamber and was never intended for sale.
He explained that KACCIMA leased about 11 hectares of the land to Alpine under a Build-Operate-Transfer arrangement for 35 years, saying the property will revert fully to the chamber at the expiration of the lease.
Darma said they will investigate the source of the fraudulent sale rumours with a view to taking legal action.
