ADSIEC slates 13th June for local govt. councils election in Adamawa

The Adamawa state Independent Electoral Commission,ADSIEC has slated the 13th of June 2026 for the conduct of local government councils election in the state.

Commissioner for public Affairs,planning and statistics of the commission Zodon Love disclosed the position at a press conference in Yola Thursday giving the public update on the level of preparations by the Commission.

Love stated that all arrangements have been concluded to ensure a peaceful, credible, and transparent election across the state.

Love said that eleven political parties are expected to participate in the polls, adding that the lists of candidates submitted by the parties have already been screened and cleared by the Commission.

He explained  that, meetings have been held with political parties, their proxies and other critical stakeholders as part of efforts to ensure smooth conduct of the elections revealing that, the Resident Electoral Officers and senior staff of the Commission have already undergone training, while political campaigns are currently ongoing across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

He also announced that May 22th and 23th have been scheduled for the recruitment and training of ad hoc staff, including Presiding Officers (POs), Poll Clerks (PCs), Senior Presiding Officers (SPOs), Poll Orderlies, and Returning Officers (ROs) adding t that May 30th has been fixed as the deadline for the submission of names of polling agents to the Electoral Officers in the various local governments.

According to him,non-sensitive materials will be distributed on June 5th and 6th, while a meeting with security agencies is scheduled for June 8th.

The Commissioner further stated that political campaigns will officially end on June 11th,while sensitive materials are expected to be distributed across the 21 local government areas on June 11th and 12th ahead of the election on June 13th adding that, in the event of any rerun or runoff election, such polls would be conducted on June 20th 2026.
