Senator Philip Aduda, representing the FCT yesterday, flagged off youth/women empowerment grant in Karu, Abuja.

Aduda, while speaking during the flag-off ceremony of the youth/women empowerment, said a grant of N50, 000 will be given to each participant in order to enable them engage in any business of their choice.

He said the programme which was organised through collaboration with the Small And Medium Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDAN) was to ensure that the youth and women find something reasonable to do in order to reduce burden on their parents and husbands.

He added that the gesture was part of his constituency projects which he hoped would impact meaningfully to the lives of  the people of the FCT irrespective or tribal, ethnic, religious or political affiliations.

He therefore urged the participants, who are mostly youths and single ladies to devote their time to learning a lot from the training  so that they would be able to start their own business that will add value to their lives.

Aso Chronicle learnt that participants and the beneficiaries of the programme were drawn from the six area councils of the FCT.
