I have been following the trends of political events as they unfold. The last few weeks have witnessed so many shenanigans politically and party cross-carpeting ahead of the 2023 Nigerian general elections.
This is happening at a time when hooliganism and banditry are reigning high across the country.

Since the 2023 general election is around the corner, I want to have few words for the electorate.
First, I want us to kill the popular notion that votes don’t count. They actually do. If they don’t, politicians wouldn’t have been engaging in campaigns to woo the electorate. Regardless of some forms of manipulations, at least there would have to be a vote in the first place to be manipulated. Therefore, votes count to some extent. Go and get your PVC.
Second, the decision we are about to make in the coming year is more critical than the ones made in the past. As days roll by, we as a people, as a country, are becoming wiser, more educated and more sophisticated to take mediocrity for an option. We must counterbalance all the choices we have before us, put them in perspectives through thorough analysis so as to arrive at progression rather than retrogression in the coming years.
Enough of politics of emotion, tribalism, religion and sentiment. Let us go for a person instead of a party, a person in lieu of a platform. In so doing, we can be right assured that the coming years will surely bring in progress and development.
Let us not be bamboozled or beguiled by our politicians’ sugar coated mouths and empty promises. Let us not be deceived again.
