 In a statement released by The CAF Apeeal Board, it said it will hold its decisive meeting next Wednesday, in Cairo, Egypt to determine whether The Amavubi’s disqualification from the Orange Africa Cup of Nations would be final.
Nigeria were due to play Congo’s Red Devils (who were restored to the race after conquerors Rwanda were alleged to have used an ineligible player in its match with Congo) on September 6th in Calabar but the opponent might change if Rwanda could prove that the player in question, Etakiama Agiti Birori, who has Rwandaese and DR Congo nationalities but with different date of births was eligible to represent them.
The Organizing Committee for the Africa Cup of Nations had on Sunday, 17 August 2014, declared Rwanda losers of Match No. 37 against Congo on 20 July 2014 in Pointe-Noire due to doubts over Bibori’s eligibility.
Congo was subsequently consigned to Group A as replacement for Rwanda, joining Nigeria, South Africa and Sudan for the final phase of the qualifiers.
Reigning African champions, Nigeria have since released the list of 23 players, including ace goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, for the 2015 AFCON qualification double header on September 6thand 10th.
