Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams will lead the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s attack in their opening Group C match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Fes, Morocco.

Osimhen, the Galatasaray striker, has been in red-hot form this season for club and country, netting five goals in his last five appearances for Nigeria.

The former Napoli forward also scored in Nigeria’s first match at AFCON 2023.

Similarly, Adams has been an instant hit with the national team since making his debut in October this year, scoring two goals in four appearances.

Other players selected by national team coach Eric Chelle to complement the duo on the wings include Ademola Lookman and the in-form Samuel Chukwueze.

In defence, Chelle has opted for a central partnership of Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi, while Bright Osayi-Samuel and Zaidu Sanusi complete the backline.

Wilfred Ndidi will officially captain the Eagles for the first time and is joined in midfield by Alex Iwobi, as Chelle lines up in a 4-4-2 formation.

Nigeria have not lost to the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in seven outings and defeated them 3-1 in their opening fixture at AFCON 1980.
