Super Eagles of Nigeria player, Ademola Lookman, has been selected in the best eleven of the Africa Cup of Nations AFCON ’25 group stage.
Eric Chelle, the head coach, was also selected the best coach of the round.
The list released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), organizers of the tournament, on Friday, has Lookman in midfield.
The Atalanta winger operated more centrally in Morocco, and bagged two goals and assists respectively in two matches.

He is paired in a three-man midfield alongside Cameroon’s Carlos Baleba, and Brahim Diaz of Morocco.
Sadio Mane, Amad Diallo, and Riyad Mahrez of Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Algeria respectively were selected for the three-man attack.
The four-man defence includes Ali Abdi, Edmond Tapsoba, Axel Tuanzebe, and Noussair Mazraoui of Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Congo DR, and Morocco respectively.
Morocco is the only nation with two players in the XI, while North African nations are most represented with five players.
Chelle was selected coach of the group phase after leading Nigeria to three wins from three matches, with his team scoring eight goals, the highest by any nation at AFCON ’25.
The Franco-Malian coach has not lost a competitive match in regulation time in 2025.
Chelle and Lookman will look to continue their impressive performance with Nigeria in the round of 16 where they face Mozambique on Monday, January 5, at the Fes stadium.
