The African Development Bank (AfDB) has earmarked $80million on technological development across Africa, the bank’s Country Director in Nigeria has said.
Speaking in Abuja at a science and tech symposium organised by the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Mr Ousmane Toure said AfDB had already spent millions of dollars on education, agriculture, rural development, water resources, power and road projects and so on in Nigeria and would increase the spending in years to come.
He said: “we have spent $80million on technology in Africa. In Nigeria, we are spending $4.5billion on some projects…”
   Mr Toure revealed that the bank would increase its funding on education because “it believes that Africa can only develop when the youths are properly educated especially in science and technology.”
  He also said AfDB would strive to address the power supply problem in the continent, adding that without stable power supply industrialization would remain a mirage.   
He stated that the bank would devote more attention on agricultural to achieve food security.
