The leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has slammed governors of the South West states for not personally attending the 45th anniversary of the Odu’a Investment Company Limited (OICL), which held in Lagos at the weekend.

While the governors of Oyo and Ekiti were absent, those of Ondo, Ogun and Osun sent representatives, a development that angered the Afenifere leader.

Pa Adebanjo told representatives of the governors to tell them that they had not honoured the memory of the region.

“They don’t know the value of what they inherited. I felt sad but I decided to calm down. This is not a party matter, it is about celebrating your inheritance,” he said.

The Odu’a Investment Company Limited was incorporated in July, 1976 to take over the business interest of the former Western State of Nigeria, now Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states.

Highlight of the event was the unveiling of the newly created subsidiaries of the company.

The Group Managing Director of the company, Adewale Raji in his remark, said the organisation was repositioning itself to fulfill its role as both an investment vehicle and a growth engine for the South-West.
