Former Deputy Registrar/Administrative Secretary – Computer Centre and Step- B Services of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Rasheed Afolabi has been appointed Registrar of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka.
In a statement signed by Thomas A.O for the College Provost, Afolabi’s appointment is said to be subjected to a period of five years renewable after a satisfactory service and as the Registrar, he would be answerable to the Provost for the administration and co-ordination of the college’s Registry Department.
Born on June 30, 1963, Afolabi hails from Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State. He attended Nawair-ud-Deen and Abeokuta
Grammar schools between 1973 and 1981 respectively. He graduated from The University of Lagos (UNILAG) in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts (History).
Subsequently, he proceeded to University of Ilorin where he obtained a Master of Education in Education Management in 1996. He also possessed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Lagos in 1990 and a Computer Proficiency Certificate from FCE, Abeokuta in 2007.
Afolabi got his teaching appointment with the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission between 1985 and 1992. He later joined the services of the Federal College of Education Abeokuta in 1993 as an Administrative Officer I. He rose through rank to become Deputy Registrar in 2007.
Between 2007 and 2011, Afolabi served as the Deputy Registrar in Admission and Certificate Verification, Deputy Registrar Centre for Degree Programme (CEDEP) 2011 – 2014 and Deputy Registrar (Sabbatical) FCE Okenne, Kogi State in the Pensions Office November, 2014 before he became the Deputy Registrar/Administrative Secretary Computer Centre and Step B Services. And it was from this position that he got his elevation as the new Registrar, FCET, Akoka, Lagos.
The new Registrar is a member Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered) and an Associate member Nigerian Institute of Public Relations respectively.He is married with children.
