The festival which opened on Thursday to end on Monday, celebrates films from Africa and is put together by African embassies and high commissions in Greece, Afolayan said in a statement.
“Each embassy brings films to represent its country and our films, ‘The Figurine (Araromire)’, ‘Phone Swap’ and ‘Orisa’, a documentary from our stable, have been selected to represent the country,” the statement added.
Afolayan said   he would be at the event not only as a filmmaker and   producer, but also as   director and attend question-and-answer sessions, where questions regarding Nigeria’s filmmaking industry would be discussed.
General Secretary of the Board of Directors of Greek Film Archives, Maria Komninos, said in a statement on the website of the organisers that events like this help promote multicultural dialogue that film archives aim to encourage.
“His films have garnered international acclaim and featured at the London Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, New York African Film Festival as well as Cinema Africa International Film Festival in Japan,” Komninos said of the Nigerian filmmaker.
The eight countries represented at this year’s event are Angola, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia.
“It gladdens my heart to know that all our works are not in vain and we are through our little contribution in filmmaking trying to put Nigeria on the world map,” Afolayan told Weekend Entertainment.
“The industry has a lot to offer the country and the world as a whole only and only if the necessary attention and support is given to the industry. All the same we are glad that we are being recognised and we will continue to represent the country in many years to come,” he added.
